We stock a wide range of threads which we know are suitable for lacemaking. The different thicknesses and materials are, at first quite bewildering, particularly if your 'antique' pattern suggests a thread which was discontinued from manufacture many years ago

If you keep a small folder of worked samples of lace, with a record of the type and count size of the thread, you will quickly establish some "landmarks" against which you are able to compare one thread with another. Make a note, too, of your opinion of the sample and how it worked. You'll be suprised at how your views will change with time!!

When ordering thread, please remember the degree of bleaching of white threads and the dye matching of coloured threads will vary from time to time. Our estimation of how much thread you might need is only that - an estimate. The responsibility is yours to always order sufficient material to complete a project. But, if you do find yourself 'stranded' half a spool from home it might be worth contacting us.
