EQUIPMENT FOR BEGINNERS

Since Mercy died in May 2009 we are not able to supply pillow covers, so no longer stock the 'standard' 18" diameter lace pillows. We are happy to recommend Mainly Lace as a supplier of these polystyrene pillows. Contact them by mail: 104, Hobleythick Lane, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, SS0 0RJ, telephone/fax: 01702 306381, or by e-mail: enquiries@mainlylace.co.uk .

We are still able to supply the equipment included in our Starter Packs, which have proved to be popular and successful for more than 25 years.

  • FAN AND SPIDER BOOKMARK KIT

Includes instructions and diagrams by Sylvia Hornsby, reprinted from a feature published in a 'Bobbin Lace' edition of 'Popular Crafts' magazine. You will learn how to make a lace bookmark - even if you have no previous experience and are not able to go to a lace making class.

    This pack includes:

    24 ready spangled plastic bobbins.
1 Pack of stainless steel lace pins.
1 Aluminium handle with needle for use as pricker.
    1 Piece of pricking card.
1 ball of DMC Special Dentelles thread.
Instructions to make 'Spider and Fan' lace bookmark.

£26.50 including post and packaging inland.

If you are teaching a child to make lace, perhaps in the 4-11 year age group, you might like to use our Bertie Bookworm/Katie Pillar/Ally Gator patterns.

  • BERTIE BOOKWORM / KATIE PILLAR / ALLY GATOR KIT

If you would like additional items, or alternatives to those already supplied with the above kits, we would be pleased to help, and make up a kit to suit your requirements.

Eunice Arnold's 'Teach Yourself Torchon Lace' is now out of print, but for beginners we can recommend Hamer & Waller's books (E-30 to E-35) and will be pleased to advise on threads and bobbins required to work these patterns. Or you might like to try our Out of Print Special Offer.
